Process Development activities for both a new process development and a plant retrofit have the following steps.
Although the current practice tends to employ in-house resources for process development, there are cases where working with PreFEED makes this process more efficient and more effective.
1. Reaction process development
PreFEED has extensive experience in the development and analysis of various chemical and bio-chemical processes. We can take your in-house experimental data to analyze, model the kinetics, propose the better reactor systems and suggest the experiments for scale-up. If you need the experience which you do not have the similar processes in your company, we can help you have the extensive review with our wide experience.
2. Process design using modeling techniques
After the process is specified, process design is carried out to find the best equipment combination and to size the equipment. These tasks are done using the process simulator these days. Process simulators can handle processes with mainly distillation, simple reactions and recycles, which is not always the case. PreFEED can model the process with process simulator and our modeling tool, EQUATRAN for most of the processes including complex reactions, batch processes, solid containing operations in addition to the continuous petrochemical processes. These models can serve as the foundation conceptual design for your in-house process design.
3. Plant performance improvement
Once the plan is built, it is required to improve the performance by utilizing the existing equipment to reduce cost, increase capacity, improve product quality, address loss prevention etc. As these activities are based on the vast plant data which may not be completely consistent, data validation and statistical analysis are employed before detailed study. PreFEED has experiences implemented in many types of plants from data analysis to finding the cost-effective solutions.
